Villamar's Story
Villamar was originally constructed in 1991 and became a well-known hotel in Grenada - Villamar Holiday Resort. Over the years, Villamar changed ownership a few times, underwent renovation projects, and was converted to an apartment complex to help satisfy the rapidly increasing demand for St. George's University off-campus housing.
Villamar's restaurant was transformed into several large studio apartments, currently referred to as the A Block. The original hotel rooms make up what we call the B Block. The conference room was divided into small studio apartments, now known as the C Block. From then, the property was known as Villamar Apartments.
Today, Villamar stands out from the many newly constructed apartment buildings in Grenada because of its spacious front yard and garden, pool and tanning deck, and relatively large parking areas. SGU students and faculty flock to Villamar due to its convenience, value for money, safety, comfort, staff hospitality, pet-friendliness, and proximity to campus, restaurants, groceries, beaches, and shopping. Villamar Apartments is proud to continue serving as a home away from home for brilliant students and faculty from around the world.
